Land / Sea

Land / Sea, the polarity being explored in this exhibition will be that between the ever changing, rolling movement of the sea, the solid stability of the land and the coastline that connects them.

The connection between the two or emphasizing the differences are elements that will be explored in this exhibition. The safety and stillness of the land to the danger and perpetual movement of the sea. Photographs can encourage the viewer to consider the coastline not simply as a geographical boundary, but as a place of tension and transition.

The exhibition asks where one environment ends and the other begins and whether such a boundary can ever truly be fixed

Photographers are asked to explore this theme however they wish, whether focusing on one aspect or both in their submissions.

How to Submit

Submissions can be sent using files transfer sites such as Smash,
Swiss Transfer and WeTransfer to:
submissions@solas-shadowgallery.com

Submit up to 5 images per Open Call.

Please submit your files in JPG format.

Please name your files using your name, e.g Ann-Smith1, Ann-Smith2, etc.
This is so we know which images belong to whom.

Please include in your submission email or message:
- Your name and surname.
- Your Location and/or Nationality
- Your social media and/or website links.
- A short biography, no more than a couple of sentences.
- Title of your images (if applicable)

There is no submission fee, it is free to submit.

If selected to participate in an exhibition you will be asked to pay a participation fee.

The participation fee will be based on the number of images selected for the exhibition:
£16 for 1 image.
£22 for 2 or more images.

Submissions are open to:
-Photographers worldwide.
-Participants 18 years of age or older.

Artists retain the copyright to their submitted works.

By submitting, artists grant permission for the Gallery to use their image(s) to promote the exhibition, for display the SOLAS / SHADOW webpage, for inclusion on social media, and for any advertising, promotional materials and publications.

Participants will:

- Have their work displayed in an online gallery on our website.

- Receive a digital certificate of participation.

- See their work featured on the gallery's social media.

- See their work featured on the gallery's Youtube channel.

- Have their work featured in an Exhibition Catalogue. (PDF and Physical)
