Portrait / Landscape
August 2026
Portrait / Landscape, the polarity being explored in this exhibition will be that between two of photography's most popular genres.
The difference between place and person can seem stark, the intimacy of a portrait and the grandeur of a landscape, but the same basic photographic principles apply to both, the capture of light and shade, exploration of shape and composition.
Exploring the differences and similarities between these two genres of photography can lead to interesting and thought provoking work.
Light and Shadow
For the gallery's inaugural exhibition, we have taken influence from our gallery's name and have chosen the theme, Light and Shadow.

Day / Night
April 2026
Day / Night is a core polarity of everyday life and the world around us.
Beyond a simple cycle of light and dark, the theme embraces contrasts such as visibility and obscurity, activity and rest, public and private, as well as moments of transition and overlap.
Summer / Winter
May 2026
Summer / Winter is an annual polarity that is experienced throughout the world to varying degrees.
The theme can be more than just a shift in temperature or season, it can explore the contrasts such as growth and dormancy, abundance and stillness, vibrancy and quiet.
It reflects changes in landscape and daily life, from long summer days to long winter nights, the contrast between the two can be stark.
Still / Motion
June 2026
Still / Motion, the polarity being explored in this exhibition will be that between stillness/ freezing a moment and movement caught and expressed through photography.
Capturing movement or the lack of, is a technique that has been used in photography from the start of photography. Slowing the world down to capture a fleeting moment, like Henri Cartier-Bresson photographing a bicycle speeding down a road, or freezing a man mid leap.
Home / Away, the polarity being explored in this exhibition will be that between familiarity and novelty/otherness.
Photography can capture the different feelings of the familiar, love, calm and comfort that we associate with the theme of home. This may be done by creating a feel of nostalgia with use of film photography, or by the use of certain colour palettes.
It can also be used to explore the newness, excitement, adventure, novelty and otherness we might feel when we are away from home or just outside our comfort zone.
